Silver Ruble Pattern Novodel, 1801-CNB AI. St. Petersburg (Banking) Mint. Alexander I. PCGS SPECIMEN-58. Bit-H638 var. (direction of engrailing; R2). Edge engrailed left. An EXTREMELY RARE variant based upon its leftward edge engrailing, this enticing novodel pattern striking displays just a few lightly scattered marks accounting for the designation, but nevertheless remains without hardly any evidence of handling or wear. Furthering its appeal that much more is some subtle toning and great lustrous brilliance, as well as its great pedigree to the 1931 Hess sale of duplicates deaccessioned from museum holdings of the then-Soviet state.
